Favre No-Show At First Day Of Packers' Camp

Paper Says Trade Deal Between Packers-Buccaneers Falls Through

The drama keeps building in the on-going saga between Brett Favre and the Green Bay Packers as Farve doesn’t show at training camp.

Farve told several national news organizations that he had a conversation with the Packers General Manager Ted Thompson Friday.

The quarterback told Peter King of Sports Illustrated and Chris Mortenson of ESPN that he signed reinstatement papers but hasn’t sent them to the NFL commissioner’s office.

Favre is reportedly waiting to report to camp.

"I had planned on reporting for the start of packers training camp [today,] but Ted Thompson asked if I would give him a couple of days to try to get the situation resolved. I agreed to do that," Farve said. "I don't want to be a distraction to the Packers, and I hope in the next few days we can come to an agreement that would allow me to continue playing football.''

Favre also told Mortenson that he was told by Thompson that Thompson would be fired if Favre walked into the training camp.

He went on to say that his wife, Deanna, and his agent Bus Cook told him that he was stupid for letting the Packers “play you like this.”

The quarterback said he may wait until Tuesday to report.

The Tampa Tribune has reported that the Packers and the Buccaneers were close to pulling off a Favre trade Saturday night but couldn’t agree on compensation.

That would give Thompson more time to make a deal with Favre.

Thompson said that the team will address the media Monday.
