STILLWATER, Okla. -- KOCO-TV in Oklahoma City has confirmed that Oklahoma State has asked Travis Ford to be its next basketball coach, but sources said Ford is not a lock to accept the job.Ford, 38, has been head coach at the University of Massachusetts since the 2005-06 season. The Minutemen made it all the way to the championship game of the National Invitational Tournament but lost to the Ohio State Buckeyes 92-85.As of noon Wednesday, it looked as if Ford would accept the position. However, sources told KOCO later in the afternoon that there was a fair chance Ford would not be coming to Stillwater. ESPN.com corroborated the OSU offer to Ford, but The Oklahoman reported Wednesday morning that no offer had even been made to the Massachusetts coach.
Ford is a former head coach at Campbellsville University and Eastern Kentucky University. He played basketball at the University of Missouri and the University of Kentucky.
