Moving Day: Woods In Hunt At Masters

Trevor Immelman Leads At Augusta

It was moving day at the Masters, and Tiger Woods was on the prowl.

Woods, who started Saturday's third round seven shots behind the leader, recorded birdies on the par-5 second, the par-4 10th, the par-5 13th and the par-4 17th to improve to 5-under for the tournament.

"I put myself right back into the tournament," Woods said.

The world's top player got into trouble on the 18th, but he managed to squeak out a par to finish his round of 68.

"That was probably about as high a score as I could have shot today," Woods said. "If I had made a few more putts, I'd be right there. But I'm right there anyway."

But despite his charge up the leaderboard, the four-time Masters champion was still chasing the leaders. Woods, who has won 13 majors, has never won a major tournament when trailing entering the final round.

Trevor Immelman, who led after the first two rounds, was still the tournament's leader after Saturday's round. He finished the day at minus-3 to improve to 11-under for the tournament. Immelman, who had a benign tumor removed from his diaphragm four months ago, got into trouble on the 15th when his ball was able avoid rolling into the water and stay up on the green. He managed to record a par on the hole and keep his two-shot lead over Brandt Snedeker.

"I have no clue how the ball stayed up there," Immelman said. "But obviously, I'm thankful."

Snedeker was at 9-under after the third round. The American held a one-shot lead over Steve Flesch, who was lurking in third place.

Flesch was minus-3 on Saturday to go to 8-under for the championship. He led Paul Casey, who was at 7-under, by one stroke.

None of the leaders have ever won a major championship.

Two-time Masters champion Phil Mickelson struggled Saturday, going 3-over to drop to 2-under for the tournament.

Saturday's round endured a 45-minute rain delay when showers moved into the area.

The forecast was also bleak for Sunday. Winds of up to 20 mph and temperatures in the 60s were expected for the final round.
