AUGUSTA, Ga. -- The second round of the Masters wrapped up Friday at Augusta National, where Trevor Immelman ended his day exactly where he started -- at the top of the leaderboard.
Immelman was minus-4 on the day to lead the field at 8-under par through the first two rounds.
Brandt Snedeker worked his way up the leaderboard Friday, going 4-under in the second round to improve to minus-7 for the tournament.
Steve Flesch also enjoyed a solid round Friday, as he improved to 5-under after his round. He started the day at even par and ended the day in a tie for third with Phil Mickelson. The left-handed American was 4-under Friday to go to 5-under for the tournament.
Ian Poulter, who recorded a hole-in-one in Thursday's opening round, was also at 5-under for the tournament after the second round.
Tiger Woods had an up-and-down second round Friday. The four-time Masters champion was even through 14 holes after recording birdies on the first, eighth and 13th holes and bogeys on the second, sixth and 10th. He ended the day shooting a 71 to end up 1-under through two rounds.
Woods' biggest comeback in a PGA Tour event is no more than five shots. He's never come back to win a major when trailing the leaders heading into the final round.
The world's top golfer claimed green jackets in 1997, 2001, 2002 and 2005.
Gary Player, a three-time champion at Augusta, finished the first two rounds at 17-over, ending his 51st tournament before the weekend.
He was joined by such notable names as Sergio Garcia, Fred Couples, Ernie Els and Mark O'Meara in missing the cut.
