Florida's Tim Tebow made history Saturday night when he became the first sophomore to ever win college football's Heisman Trophy.
Since the first Heisman was given to Chicago's Jay Berwanger in 1935, all 70 players who have taken home the award have been juniors or seniors.
The Gators' quarterback threw for 3,132 yards and 29 touchdowns during the regular season. He also rushed for 838 yards and 22 TDs to become the first major college player to run for 20 touchdowns and throw for 20 scores.
"I am fortunate, fortunate for a lot of things," Tebow said. "God truly blessed me and this just adds on. It's an honor. I'm so happy to be here."
He became the third Gator quarterback to win the Heisman, joining fellow Florida signal-callers Danny Wuerffel and Steve Spurrier.
Tebow beat out three talented upperclassmen to earn the honors.
Darren McFadden made a return trip to New York on Saturday. The Arkansas running back finished second to Ohio State's Troy Smith last year. This season the junior ran for 1,725 yards and 15 touchdowns. He also showed his versatility by passing for 123 yards and four TDs and tallied 164 receiving yards for one score.
Colt Brennan entered Saturday's ceremony as the only finalist to lead his team to an undefeated season. En route to helping Hawaii post a 12-0 record, Brennan set a major college football record after throwing 131 career touchdown passes. He tallied 4,174 passing yards and 38 touchdowns this season.
Missouri's Chase Daniel also eclipsed the 4,000-yard mark this season, throwing for 4,170 yards and 33 touchdowns. The junior led the 11-2 Tigers to one of the school's most successful seasons.
McFadden finished second in the Heisman voting for the second straight year, while Brennan was third and Daniel was fourth.
