Vegas Q&A: Rick's Biggest Wins

Question: What is the largest jackpot you've ever won on a slot machine? What kind of machine was it and where?

June in Allentown, Pa.

Ask Rick

Answer: Hey, June. thanks for the question.

The largest amount of money I've ever won on a traditional slot machine was at the Stratosphere last New Year's Eve, when I won a $3,600 jackpot on a $5 Triple-Double Diamond machine. These machines have been very generous to me over the years, with three separate $1,600 jackpots on the $1 versions at Luxor, New York-New York, and the same weekend mentioned above at Stratosphere.

Also, these same types of Triple-Double Diamond machines were responsible for twin $1,500 jackpots at Luxor about two weeks ago. Of course, those were on $25 and $100 machines (don't ask; I was on a roll).

However, that $3,600 jackpot is not the largest jackpot I've ever won if you count video poker as slot machines. About a month ago, I was playing $1 Double Bonus Poker on a progressive machine at the Venetian and, after holding an ace of diamonds, was dealt the rest of a royal flush and won just over $4,100. That was fun.

So look for those Triple-Double Diamond machines. Unless I'm going to be in town. Then they're mine!
