Eight days before Houston's mayoral election, Bill White has the lead in an exclusive News2Houston poll.

SurveyUSA asked 454 Houston voters, "If the election for mayor of Houston were today, and you were standing in the voting booth right now, would you vote for Orlando Sanchez, Sylvester Turner, Bill White or someone else?"

Orlando Sanchez, Sylvester Turner, Bill WhiteThe poll showed 38 percent would vote for White, 32 percent for Sanchez and 26 percent for Turner. Four percent said they would vote for another candidate or were undecided.

Since Oct. 1, White and Sanchez have switched places, with White gaining six points and Sanchez down six points, the poll found. Turner is up three points.

The poll showed that Sanchez has lost a significant ground with young voters, Hispanics and male voters.

Turner had a slight gain of male voter support, from 20 percent to 23 percent.

In female voter support, the poll showed that 33 percent of women preferred Sanchez on Oct. 1 to 31 percent on Oct. 24.

Approximately 30 percent of female voters said they would have voted for White on Oct. 1, while 36 percent supported him on Oct. 24.

Turner had unchanged female support, with 27 percent.

The poll has a margin of error of 4.7 percent, according to SurveyUSA.
