Man Shot During Home Invasion

POSTED: Tuesday, September 19, 2006

A man was shot when another man broke into his home, officials told KPRC Local 2.

Harris County sheriff's deputies said they responded to the call from the Quail Chase Apartments in the 500 block of West Airtex Drive near Ella Boulevard at about 9:45 a.m. on Monday

Deputies said two men inside the apartment were asleep when a 17- to 20-year-old man knocked on the door.

One of the men went to answer the door and a man kicked the door in, officials said.

Investigators said the man forced the residents into the bathroom at gunpoint and then rummaged through the bedroom.

One of the residents confronted the man and the man shot the resident in the hip, deputies said.

The victim was transported to Ben Taub Hospital in stable condition.

The shooter got away.
