HOUSTON -- A fire at a northeast Harris County home took a man's life, KPRC Local 2 reported.
Firefighters had to cut through burglar bars at the home on Hollybrook Lane while battling the fire at about 4:30 a.m. Sunday.Israel Villareal, 20, and Brandon Briones were trapped inside. Crews rescued Briones and he was rushed to Memorial Hermann Hospital in stable condition.Firefighters weren't able to get to Villareal in time. His body was found in a bedroom.A memorial grew in the front yard to honor Villareal."Shows that a lot of people liked my brother," Garrod Villareal said. "Just shows me that my brother had respect for a lot of people. It makes me happy."Villareal leaves behind his girlfriend and their 8-month-old daughter.The cause of the fire is under investigation.
