Credit Card Thief Goes On Shopping Spree

POSTED: Tuesday, August 26, 2008

Someone went on a shopping spree at Target, but the money wasn't his to spend, KPRC Local 2 reported Tuesday.

A man's Visa card was stolen when his car was broken into at a gym in the 3900 block of Shepherd Drive on May 14.

Crime Stoppers officials said the thief used the stolen card at three Target stores to purchase a Sony TV, a Blu-Ray DVD player, an X-box and computer equipment.

The thief racked up a bill of $2,923.99, officials said.

Surveillance cameras at the stores captured the thief's image on tape. He was described as white, 25 to 30 years old, 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall with a medium build above the waist and very skinny legs. He was last seen wearing a white driving hat, sunglasses, a blue shirt with white stripes and plaid knee-length shorts.

A $5,000 reward was offered for information leading to the identification, arrest and filing of charges against the thief.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
