Houston police officer accused of transporting undocumented aliens in South Texas

HOUSTON – A Houston police officer and his wife were arrested Sunday in South Texas on charges of transporting two undocumented aliens.

Juan Carillo, 51, and his wife, Rosa, were arrested Sunday on Highway 85 in Big Wells.

He is a 21-year veteran the force and works out of the Southeast Patrol Division.

Carillo and his wife appeared Monday in federal court in Del Rio and both were released on $10,000 bond.

Court records state Rosa Carillo paid around $1,750 to an unknown smuggler to bring the two undocumented aliens into the U.S.

Both of the undocumented aliens remain in federal custody.

Houston police said that once Carillo returns to Houston, he will be relieved of duty pending the outcome of the investigation.

Homeland Security Investigations is investigating the case, along with the U.S. Border Patrol.
