Man charged with murder after mother's body found at SW Houston residence

HOUSTON – A man is facing a murder charge after police said they found the body of his mother Saturday evening at his southwest Houston residence.

Officers were called to Fire Station 37 on Stella Link, south of Bellaire Boulevard, where a man, identified as Zachary Landrum, had walked up in his underwear around 5:30 p.m.

Officers took Landrum back to his home in the 3700 block of Merrick at Edloe in the Braeswood Place area. They said when they arrived they found body of  Landrum's mother, believed to be in her 60s or 70s.

Police said they also found a shotgun inside the house.

Landrum, 41, was arrested and charged with murder.

"I'm just really shocked about what I'm learning has happened here because this is a neighborhood where there's little or no crime whatsoever and the people around here are just as friendly and lovely as can be," neighbor Len Kammerman said.

Landrum is expected in court Monday.
