Woman sues carnival after daughter, 3, hurt

Mother sues for negligence

HOUSTON – The operators of a rodeo carnival ride that left a 3-year-old child injured are now facing a lawsuit.

In March, Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo officials said the girl had crawled out from a safety harness on the Techno Jump ride and fell to the platform below.

The girl suffered scrapes and cuts to her face and head, officials said.

Rodeo officials blamed the mother for the fall. They claimed the mother got off the ride moments before it started, leaving the child on board by herself.

The mother has since filed a lawsuit against the operators of the ride. The suit alleges that the girl's injuries were caused by the negligent acts and/or omissions of the operator. The suit is seeking a judgment for damages that include medical expenses, physical pain and mental anguish suffered in the past and future.
