Woman shot, man who called 911 arrested

HARRIS COUNTY – Harris County Precinct 4 Constables are investigating a shooting that happened at a northwest Harris County apartment complex Friday afternoon.

Officials said a woman was shot in the arm and the neck.

Investigators told Local 2 the man who shot her called 911, claiming to also be a victim.

According to investigators, the shooting happened at the Vanderbilt apartment complex, but the suspect initially claimed he and the woman were in a car when another man shot at them.

"We set up a very wide perimeter and had units checking out the perimeter area," said Lt. Ronnie Glaze. "That's when we started getting information it might not have happened the way they originally said."

An ambulance took victim, a woman in her mid-30s, to the hospital. Her injuries are believed to be non-life threatening.

Police said the man was taken into custody and is facing charges of aggravated assault.

Investigators said some kind of disturbance led to the shooting.

At this point, the man and the woman are being described as acquaintances.

"At this point we know they knew each other. That's as far as we're going to go at this point," said Lt. Glaze.
