Woman says she was violated while sitting outside Westchase grocery store

HOUSTON – A woman says she was violated while sitting outside a Whole Foods near Westheimer Road and Wilcrest Drive in Westchase on Aug. 7.

The 24-year-old woman told Houston police that while sitting outside the grocery store at about 1:45 p.m. Monday, a man pressed his groin area against her and propositioned her.

Despite her protests, she told police that he continued to harass her.

She then told police he went into the store, and when he came back out, he harassed her again.

But that's not all; the woman said when she threatened to call the police, he jumped into his car and backed into her as she tried to snap a picture of his license plate. Then, she says, he took off.

Customers were surprised by the news.

“Unbelievable,” said Liz Lozano of Westchase. “I haven't seen anything like that here. It's pretty safe.”

“I think that it's pretty scary that can happen,” said Jonathan Jones, a Medical Center resident.

Police said the woman refused medical attention, but kept her word and reported the incident to the Houston Police Department.

HPD does not have surveillance video of the incident.

They are asking anyone with information on the incident to call Crime Stoppers.
