FORT BEND COUNTY -

A woman is fighting to survive after being tossed from her vehicle and then run over by it.

DPS officials said the woman was driving on Highway 59 near Rosenberg around 9:30 p.m. Thursday when she lost control of her vehicle.

Investigators believe she was texting behind the wheel when she hit the wall on the freeway, overcompensated and rolled her SUV.

DPS said an 18-wheeler crashed into the SUV sending it over the woman on the road.

Officials said the woman was transported by Life Flight to Memorial Hermann Hospital in extremely critical condition.

The driver of the 18-wheeler was not injured.
