Woman robbed and sexually assaulted while jogging

A backseat passenger searched her and they ended up taking the woman's phone, keys and wallet

HOUSTON – Fear has gripped a normally quiet neighborhood in the Fort Bend County section of Houston after a female jogger was kidnapped at gunpoint, robbed and sexually assaulted.

Investigators released surveillance video of the car the two suspects were driving in Sunday night, speeding past a home security camera.

"We've assumed it's safe actually because nothing has ever happened here," said neighbor Savonja Rexho.

Investigators say the woman was jogging late Sunday evening in the Kingsbridge Village subdivision near Mission Oak Drive and Dora Meadows Drive near Bissonet.

The driver is described as a heavy-set African American who wore glasses, had loose curls in his hair in an afro-style and had a goatee.

Officials say he and the other suspect drove up to the woman, forced her in the car, and then drove her to her residence and demanded money.

The backseat passenger searched her and they ended up taking her phone, keys and wallet. He then sexually assaulted her before they drove her to another location and dropped her off.

In a neighborhood where a lot of people spend time outside, Sunday's crime now has a lot of them nervous. That includes several women like Savonja Rexho, who walks and jogs these streets on a regular basis.

"Now I will not jog, at all. It's out of the question," said Rexho. "Now that it gets darker later, it's out of the question because you never know who's watching."

Investigators say the men were driving what appeared to be a silver Chevrolet HHR. They are offering a $5,000 cash reward for information that leads to the arrest and filing of charges against the suspects.
