HOUSTON -

A woman is recovering after, police said, she was pistol-whipped and carjacked in southeast Houston.

The carjacking happened around 11 p.m. Tuesday along Binz near Sampson. Investigators said two men ran up to the woman, pointed a gun at her and demanded her car. Police said when she tried to stop them, they pistol-whipped her.

About two hours later, investigators said officers spotted the car about two blocks away and tried to pull the driver over. Instead, the driver took off, leading police on a chase, officials said.

After a short chase, police said the men bailed out at an apartment complex on Corder near St. Augustine Street, but were soon captured by police.

Police said they found the gun that was used in the carjacking.
