HOUSTON – Houston police said a woman wasn't wearing a seat belt when she died in a crash early Wednesday.

All lanes of I-10 were blocked near the connector ramp heading north on 610 as officers investigated the scene. The intersection of 610 and Market Street was also closed off to drivers in the area.

Police said the victim was in her mid-20's.

According to investigators, she was driving east on I-10 in a white SUV around 2 a.m. Officers said she was speeding on the ramp leading north on 610 when she lost control of the vehicle.

The woman over-corrected and the SUV slammed into the curb before flipping over and landing in the opposite direction on the feeder road.

Officers said the woman wasn't wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the car. She landed approximately 15 feet away from the front tire of the SUV and died at the scene.
