Woman killed after losing control of car, slamming into trees in east Houston

HOUSTON – A 22-year-old woman is dead after she lost control of her car and crashed in east Houston, police said.

The woman was driving east on the I-10 East Freeway at Lockwood around 1 a.m. when her green Toyota Camry went off the freeway and slammed into several trees, police said.

The car burst into flames and the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity has not been released.

Officer had to cut a male passenger from the car, who was trapped in the passenger’s seat.

The 21-year-old man was taken to a hospital with severe head trauma. He was in serious condition, police said.

According to police, they believe alcohol might have been a factor in the crash.
