Woman in brutal beating caught on video: I want justice

HOUSTON – A Houston woman who was pulverized by a mob of angry men and women, some of whom recorded the beating, has been released from the hospital.

Channel 2 Investigates obtained a copy of a video clip that appears to show Heleanor Swanson, 33, fighting for her life.

"I just recently watched it and when I watch it, it makes me cry," Swanson told KPRC 2.

Swanson wants police to press charges against the men and women who were involved in the fight.

The Houston Police Department is investigating the case, but has not made any arrests as of Friday.

The melee started about 8:30 p.m. Monday at Brothers Market & Meat Mart, a long-troubled convenience store.

Some witnesses reported that Swanson started the fight after trading insults with a group of people with whom she had previously had problems.

Nobody appears to come to Swanson's aid during the one minute clip of the fight, obtained by KPRC 2, and many bystanders appear to be cheering.

"I want justice. I want all of them to go to jail," Swanson said.

A police source said Friday that Swanson charged a police officer who arrived on scene after the fight. Swanson was subdued with a Taser, handcuffed and taken to the hospital, the source said.

Swanson said Friday she does not remember those events.
