Woman hospitalized, husband found dead after couple reported missing

BOLIVAR PENINSULA, Texas – A woman was hospitalized Wednesday and her husband was found dead after a Silver Alert was issued when the Chambers County couple was reported missing.

Authorities said Claude Credeur, 86, and his wife, Lena, 81, were reported missing Tuesday after they were last seen at 4542 State Highway 124 in Winnie.

Chambers County Sheriff Brian Hawthorne said the couple was found on the Bolivar Peninsula on Wednesday night, at the height of Tropical Storm Cindy. He said Claude Credeur was dead, and Lena Credeur was hospitalized.

Hawthorne said Claude Credeur’s death is considered suspicious, but investigators are still trying to determine how he died.

Lean Credeur was being treated at UTMB Galveston, Hawthorne said. Her condition was not immediately released.
