HOUSTON - A woman is recovering from serious injuries after she was hit by a car while trying to cross a street.
Harris County sheriff's deputies said the woman tried to cross FM 1960 near Cypress Station around 1 a.m. Tuesday.
Investigators said the woman was not in the crosswalk at the time she was hit.
Officials said a man, who was driving with his wife, did not see the woman and hit her.
The driver stopped and waited for officers to arrive at the scene.
Investigators said the driver had been drinking, but were not certain if he was intoxicated at the time of the accident.
Emergency responders transported the woman to the Houston Northwest Medical Center where she was treated for head injuries and trauma to her lower body.
An investigation is underway, but deputies said it appeared that the woman was at fault.
