HOUSTON – A woman died in connection with a fatal accident around 3:45 a.m. Sunday at 5000 Texas Spur 5.
Houston police say the victim was driving a gray Dodge Durango and was in an accident with a gray Chevrolet Impala at another location. Investigators say the woman left the scene and fled southbound on Texas Spur 5.

Officials say the Impala followed the Durango a brief distance, and saw the Durango drive up an embankment at Old Spanish Trail. That's when police say the Durango went airborne, struck utility pole support wires and crashed in an open field.
The victim died at the scene, according to HPD. Her identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
The investigation is ongoing.
