Woman dies days after shooting

Joshua World found in vacant home in southeast Harris County

SOUTHEAST HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A woman who was shot by her ex-boyfriend on May 4th has died. Twenty-six-year-old Jeanette Ochoa was shot in the head and taken to Ben Taub Hospital in critical condition. She was pronounced dead from those wounds on May 11th.

Twenty-nine-year-old Joshua World was wanted for a shootout with police, but  committed suicide. He was found in a vacant home in southeast Harris County.

Members of the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders and Fugitives Task Force found Joshua World in the 2600 block of Heritage Colony Drive in the Heritage Park subdivision.

Officers surrounded the home and found World with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the home.

No law enforcement officers were injured.

The U.S. Marshal's Office served an aggravated assault warrant to World late before that when he led them on a three-city chase. Police said World shot at officers, hitting a Webster police car and at least five other vehicles.

No one was hurt in the chase.
