Suspected drunk driver causes crash in northwest Harris County; woman dies

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A man is facing charges after a crash that left one woman dead near the intersection of state Highway 249 and Antoine Drive early Saturday.

Harris County deputies suspect the man was intoxicated and involved in two other minor accidents before the deadly crash.

Deputies said the man was driving a Kia southbound on Highway 249 and hit a red Jeep with a woman driver around 1:15 a.m.

The woman tried to get out of the Jeep. The driver of a pickup truck did not see the crashed Jeep and hit it, causing it to spin and eject the woman.

She died at the scene.

The driver of the pickup was not injured and is not expected to be charged.

The man driving the Kia was taken to the hospital in stable condition and is facing driving while intoxicated charges.

Deputies said that if they can find witnesses who can prove he ran a red light, his charges may upgrade to intoxication manslaughter.
