HOUSTON -

A woman was killed early Christmas Eve morning after she was crushed by her own car in northwest Houston.

Police said the 24-year-old woman was headed westbound on Hempstead Highway around 1 a.m. Tuesday morning when she lost control of her Mercedes on a curve near Dacoma Street.

Officials said the car started flipping and the woman was tossed from the vehicle. The car landed on top of the woman, crushing her to death.

Police said the victim was not wearing a seat belt.

It was unclear if alcohol factored into the crash.
