HOUSTON -

A woman is hospitalized after police say she caused a wrong-way crash on the North Freeway.

According to the Houston Police Department, the woman was driving a red Nissan Friday night northbound in the southbound lanes of the North Freeway.

That is when she collided with a Jeep Cherokee  head-on.

The Houston Fire Department  had to pry the woman out of her vehicle.

She was then taken to Ben Taub Hospital in stable condition.

The driver of the Cherokee was not injured.

Police say alcohol may have been a factor.
