Family members believe a League City man's recent marriage may have played a part in his murder.
This 13-year-old girl woke up to news that her stepfather, Jacob Felts, was shot and killed Thursday night while sitting in his SUV outside Walmart on FM 646 and the Gulf Freeway where he worked.
"My stepdad Jacob was the most amazing stepdad in the world," said Ashley Rose Caylor.
Police say Felts' former co-worker and ex-girlfriend, Roshanda Howard, was waiting for him, firing at least a half dozen shots through his driver's side window, before immediately driving over to the League City Police Department to turn herself in.
"He was a really nice person. I don't know why she would ever want to hurt him. He was the nicest person I've ever met," said Caylor.
Felts had just gotten married to another co-worker in June and his family says Howard was upset about his new relationship.
"She used to go to the store after they broke up and she used to tell him off right there in the store or outside; wait for him outside the store and tell him off," said the victim's father-in-law, Alvin Rose.
Howard is now in jail charged with murder. Her bond is set at $200,000.
