Woman and priest attacked in local parks

Attacks reported in two separate parks

HOUSTON – A woman and a priest said they were attacked in two local parks.

One attack happened along the Columbia Bike Trail off of Rosedale Street in southeast Houston.

A priest from St. Mary's Catholic Church said he saw a group of three teenage boys coming his way at about 8:30 p.m., Monday.  He said that they first passed him on the concrete path.

"They turned back and they stopped me and they put gun in my head.  They ask me to raise hands and they ask me where's your wallet?  Where's your money?  I said I don't have money or wallet," said Father Chien Dinh.

He told Local 2, "They asked me where is your iPhone and they checked my pocket. And they stole my iPhone. The priest said the men hit him three times. He said they also hit him in the face, breaking his glasses.

A 23-year-old woman told Baytown Police that a man pushed her down along the wooded trail in Goose Creek Park after she was jogging in broad daylight.  Police said there were no visible injuries.

Police continue to investigate both attacks.
