Andrea Yates, the woman acquitted of killing her five children by reason of insanity back in 2001, could soon be granted privileges to leave the hospital.

A teleconference between a judge, lawyers and doctors to discuss possible group outings was scheduled for Friday, but it had to be canceled due to logistics.

Sources told Local 2 that Yates is the only patient in the state hospital that has never been approved for a group outing pass.

The district attorney has been invited to visit an open house in April at the hospital, where they would get the opportunity to see how Yates lives.
