WALLER COUNTY - Southeast Texas turned into a winter wonderland Tuesday morning with icicles covering everything from tree branches to street signs and windshields.
Icy conditions in Waller County forced TxDOT to shut down part of the Northwest Freeway overnight as they de-iced the roadways.
Once the roads reopened, drivers had to deal with wet and slick conditions during the morning commute.
The Local 2 crew stationed out in northwest Harris County were on the lookout for ice on the overpasses out by Highway 290 and Highway 6, but said they didn't see any form.
During the morning hours, the Northwest Freeway inbound was congested while drivers took extra precautions to drive slow.
