Wheelchair bound man killed in hit-and-run

Police searching for driver

HOUSTON - A wheelchair bound man is dead after he was hit by a truck while crossing the street.

This happened around 3:30 Sunday morning at Airline and Aldine Mail Route in Northwest Houston. Officials with the Harris County Sheriff's Office said the man was in the road on the southbound side of Airline, when a red Ford F series pickup truck struck him.

Investigators said the driver then made a quick u-turn and took off northbound on Airline, leaving the man in the middle of the road.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators have not released the victim's name.

Police are still searching for the driver.
