Ex-employee shoots 3 co-workers before committing suicide in Katy

A disgruntled former employee with a shotgun killed one person and injured two others Wednesday morning before shooting himself inside Knight Transportation in the 20400 block of Franz Road in west Harris County, officials said.

Family members identified the victim as Mike Dawid.

Emergency crews were called just before 9 a.m. on reports of a man with a shotgun inside the building. Officials said the man, identified as Marion Guy Williams, 65, went in and fired one shot, described as a "warning shot," into a break room.

JJ Watt's mother discusses her son's daily life

If Houston had a royal family, JJ Watt would be the prince, and his mother, Connie Watt, would be the queen.

Watt and his brothers were athletic children, but he also played the role of big brother to his two younger siblings.

CenterPoint Energy pays vet bill after contractor allegedly beats family's dogs with wrench

A contract worker has been fired and  CenterPoint Energy has agreed to pay the veterinary bills for a family’s dogs after the contractor was accused of beating the animals with a wrench.

The homeowner, Mike Willcox, said a CenterPoint Energy worker entered his back yard unannounced around 9:45 a.m. March 23 and caught the attention of his two Weimaraners. When the dogs, Flash and Shutter, approached the contractor, the surveillance video shows him swinging an object at the animals and hitting them in the faces.

Man found guilty for strangling girlfriend on prom night

A jury returned a guilty verdict Wednesday morning in the case of Eddie Herrera, the man who prosecutors said killed his girlfriend on prom night two years ago.

He was sentenced Wednesday to 25 years in prison. 

Herrera, now 20, was convicted of aggravated assault in the death of his then-girlfriend, Jacqueline Gomez, in May 2014 at a Hyatt Hotel on North Sam Houston Tollway. Authorities said he had been drinking and taking drugs on the night Gomez was killed.

Plane makes emergency landing at Bush Airport after man dies onboard

A plane made an emergency landing in Houston after a man who suffered health complications died in the air, officials said.

According to the medical examiner, the man seemed to have died of natural causes.

Officials said a doctor was on the plane at the time and was able to assist.

Transgender bathroom policy ignites protest at Heights-area Target

The hotly debated battle over the bathroom, and who can use it, erupted again in Houston Sunday night in front of a Target store in the Heights.

The issue? Target's decision to allow transgender individuals to use whichever bathroom they feel most comfortable using.

"The city of Houston has made it crystal clear, without a shadow of a doubt, that we are serious -- not curious about men going into our restrooms with our women and children," Tex Christopher, protest organizer, said.

Organizers are calling upon all Houstonians to boycott Target for its position.

Mother leaves kids in hot car while shopping at Walmart

A mother is facing child endangerment charges after police said she left her children inside a hot car while she was shopping at Walmart.

Witnesses reported that two children were left outside in a car in the parking lot of the store on Westview Drive near the Sam Houston Tollway.

Police found a 5-year-old boy and a 4-year-old girl alone in the vehicle. The engine was off and the windows were rolled down. Officers said the children were hot and thirsty.
