HOUSTON – Airlines have cancelled nearly 4,700 flights through Saturday night because of the blizzard and this is sure to affect a lot of people trying to fly to and from the northeast.
So if an airline does cancel your flight, what are your rights?
If you were booked on United Airlines, you can change your travel plans, with no charge if you resume travel before Thursday of next week. After that, any difference in fare will be applied.
Southwest passengers can rebook without penalty within 14 days of their original travel dates.
On American Airlines, the change fees are waived if you travel before Wednesday.
And Delta customers can take a refund if their flight was cancelled or significantly delayed. You can also choose to make a one-time change to your ticket without penalty, if you travel before Thursday. Flights after that are subject to a difference in fare.
