West Houston office building evacuated after fire

HOUSTON – A west Houston office building was evacuated Monday after a fire broke out.

Firefighters were sent to the high-rise building at 2401 Fountainview at Burgoyne at 9:55 a.m. The fire started in an employee break room on the 8th floor. Smoke filled the 7th through 10th floors.

A second alarm was pulled for more manpower and as a precaution.

"It was a very small fire," said Jay Evans of the Houston Fire Department.."(We were) able to be put out rather quickly once we got into the break room."

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

No injuries have been reported.
