HOUSTON - Break out the shorts and tank tops this weekend! Temperatures will be unusually warm, continuing the trend of spring-like days we've had for most of this week.
Afternoon temperatures will climb into the upper 70s to near 80 degrees under partly to mostly cloudy skies. With a persistent south wind, the humidity will be high, too. That means warm overnight and morning temperatures -- in the low to mid 60s. And don't forget: Each morning there will be a good chance for morning fog, so factor that into your plans if you happen to be hitting the roadways early in the day.
To put this weekend's warmth into perspective, our normal afternoon high in late January is 64 degrees. The normal morning low temperature is 44, so on both ends of the scale we're going to be at least 15 degrees above normal! We'll be close to record highs each afternoon for the next few days.
We won't feel a change in the weather pattern until next Wednesday, when a morning cold front sweeps through. The front will bring us our next decent chance for rain -- about 30 percent -- beginning Tuesday evening. Then, behind the front we'll notice a big change in the way things feel outside. Humidity will drop drastically, bringing us cool mornings, mild afternoons and more sunny skies!
