The shooting was reported about 1:30 a.m. Thursday at a home in the 5900 block of Bihia Forest Drive.
The daughter said she was inside the home and heard her father talking on the phone outside in their garage. She said she heard two gunshots, opened the garage and found his body.
Police said two black men in their early 20s approached Ruvalcaba while he was standing in his garage. Within minutes, shots were heard and the men left the scene.
The daughter said her four siblings were also home at the time of the shooting.
A warrant was issued for the arrest of Hudson, who police believe is the shooter, according to court documents.
Court documents state that the two men were at Ruvalcaba's buying marijuana.
"(They are a) pretty quiet family. Cool people," said Andre Cheeves, a neighbor. "They pretty much stay to themselves around this area and stuff like that. There’s quite a few young kids. I’m just glad the kids are OK."
Investigators said there did not appear to be much of a struggle, and they are still working to determine a motive.
Anyone with information about the case should call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-8477.
