Veterans Day Freebies to honor servicemen, women

HOUSTON – Tuesday is Veterans Day and Houston has a whole host of ways to honor our servicemen and women.

If you find yourself hungry, head over to Applebee's.

According to Houston on the Cheap, veterans and active military personnel get to choose from one of seven entrees. And it's free with military ID.

Golden Corral is offering a free dinner buffet and drink from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday. As a side note, Golden Corral has served more than 4 million free meals to members of the military in the last 13 years.

Olive Garden is also offering the free meal plus unlimited soup or salad and bread sticks.

Need a little off the top? Great Clips is offering active and retired military members a free haircut on Tuesday. Or swing by and grab a card that you can use anytime through the end of the year.

It's also a good time to look for a furry companion.

The Houston Humane Society and Pets for Vets are offering the change to adopt a free pet through Tuesday at their location on Almeda Road.

Baker St. Pub & Grill -- all six locations in greater Houston and Sherlock's Baker St. Pub in Clear Lake. Fish & chips for Veterans Day. To receive, guests must be in uniform or present proof of service.

D'Amico's Italian Market Café in Katy -- Free spaghetti & meatball entrée on Veterans Day for all veterans.
