UTHealth doctor charged with indecency with child faces judge

HOUSTON – A disciplinary panel of the Texas Medical Board temporarily suspended, without notice, the Texas medical license of Robert J. Yetman, M.D. after he was charged with indecency with a child.

The board announced the decision after "determining his continuation in the practice of medicine poses a continuing threat to public welfare. The suspension was effective immediately."

Yetman, a 30-year veteran at UTHealth, appeared in court Tuesday morning. According to court records, Yetman inappropriately touched a 7-year-old patient in January 2014.

Yetman also saw patients at Memorial Hermann Hospital.

His attorney asked for a trial as early as the end of July.

Prosecutors told KPRC 2 News that they are concerned that there may be other victims.

"The concern is because of the defendant's profession, that there may be other victims out there.  And what we would like is if there are any victims, who see this report and say I had something happen while I was a patient under his care or even if someone knows the defendant personally that they contact our office and let us know," Assistant District Attorney Tiffany Johnson said.

Yetman is out of jail on a $30,000 bond. As a condition of his release, he is to have no contact with any child under the age of 17.

He was placed on administrative leave by UTHealth.
