AUSTIN, Texas - A University of Texas System board member is under investigation that could result in his impeachment; and now, his fellow regents plan to meet to discuss it.
The Board of Regents has scheduled a special telephone conference to consider legal matters related to the House Select Committee on Transparency in State Agency Operations.
That is the so-called "transparency committee" investigating Regent Wallace Hall Jr.
Hall is under scrutiny for burying the flagship UT Austin campus under open records requests. Some lawmakers believe he aims to oust UT President Bill Powers, whose strong political support doesn't include Gov. Rick Perry.
Regents also are to discuss privately the U.S. Supreme Court ruling on affirmative action in admissions. The UT admission plan survived a consensus Supreme Court decision.
