UPDATE: Man shot during home invasion

HARRIS COUNTY – Authorities said a man was shot during a home invasion Thursday morning in northwest Harris County.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office said it happened in the 11700 block of Cordoba near West Mount around 10:45 a.m. Thursday.

The victim's older brother told Local 2 a black male suspect kicked in the back door of the home and ran inside. The suspect then shot the 22-year-old man in the neck and hit him in the head before stealing video games and cash.

The family said the suspect demanded the victim's car keys and stole his blue Honda Accord.

Investigators said the homeowner was transported to Ben Taub Hospital and was conscious and talking.

Authorities said the blue Honda was abandoned and found about three blocks away outside of a mobile home park.

The victim's older brother said their 13-year-old brother was inside the house at the time of the incident. He heard the commotion and ran across the street to ask neighbors for help.

The family said they had never seen the suspect before.

Officials said they are searching for the suspect who is on the run.
