HOUSTON – The man police believe shot a 3-year-old in the back has been taken into custody.

Harris County deputies named Izacc Williams, 20, as the suspected shooter on Tuesday. He was arrested by the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force and has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

The victim, a 3-year-old boy is clinging to life after he was shot in an apparent drive-by shooting inside his home in northwest Harris County early Tuesday morning.

Around 12:50 a.m. Tuesday, deputies responded to reports of shots being fired at a home in the Teal Brook subdivision off Fry Road and FM 529. When they arrived, they found a boy who had been shot once in the back.

According to reports, Trixton Bell was in the living room when he was shot by someone outside the home.  He was taken to the hospital and remains in critical condition.

Deputies said his parents were not home at the time of the shooting; however, an adult babysitter and two teenagers were at the house when it happened.

"They were watching the boy, the baby. They were going to go to sleep already," said Josie Lopez.

She says her granddaughter and her boyfriend were babysitting at the time.

"We don't know who had the gun because there were several boys in the car," Lopez said.

Witnesses said right after the shooting, they saw a white Dodge Magnum leaving the scene.

Harris County deputies said they responded to a report of an argument Monday evening between two men near the house where the shooting occurred.

"They attacked him. There were five boys and they were attacking him all the way to the back they attacked him. It was those boys across the street," Lopez said.

Deputies said the fight was over and the men were gone by the time they arrived.
