LEAGUE CITY, Texas – Authorities say what was believed to be a stranger danger incident near a Clear Creek Independent School District elementary school was just a case of an elderly man assisting a child he thought needed help.
League City police say the incident involved a Hall Elementary student.

Police say they were able to locate the driver of the older model red vehicle matching the description given by the child.
Officers interviewed the 87-year-old man who told police that he saw the boy who he believed was locked out of his house. The man said the passenger-side window of his car was broken, so he had to open the door to talk to the boy whom he thought needed help.
Two other stranger danger incidents at Clear Creek ISD schools were reported to authorities within the same week, so the League City Police Department has increased patrols at all of the schools in the city.
League City police are encouraging parents to talk with their children about safe versus unsafe strangers, and how to react to potentially dangerous situations.
"If approached by a stranger and offered a ride, children should tell them ‘No,' walk away keeping a safe distance from the stranger's vehicle, and yell for help if the stranger continues to follow them," League City police said in a written statement. "Role-playing and discussions with children are effective tools parents can use to prepare them for a real-life situation."
