HOUSTON -

The Black Heritage Society is rescheduling the unveiling of the Martin Luther King Jr. statue.

Event organizers told us they were forced to reschedule the Martin Luther King Jr. dedication ceremony, parade and gala because the 8 foot tall bronze statue was damaged just before it was shipped.

The Black Heritage Society said they still plan on hosting their 46th candlelight vigil and reception on Friday.

The new date for the statue's unveiling has yet to be announced.
