The Houston Fire Department is working with contractors to clean up a chemical spill in southeast Houston.
The chemical was found leaking into a bayou at 2439 Albright Drive and Queens around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday night.
Investigators believe the chemical was petroleum- based.
When firefighters arrived on the scene, they found the chemical floating in Berry Creek and going under South Richey Road.
The chemical was found to be coming from an 18-wheeler that was behind a locked gate at a company that is no longer in business.
There was a for sale sign on the fence.
Contractors will vacuum up the chemical and properly dispose of it.
The environmental impact won't be known until crews can determine what chemical was leaked.
