HOUSTON - A university security officer has been accused of lying on his timesheet.

Travoltry Bernard Smith, 22, has been charged with theft by a public servant.

According to court documents, Smith, who worked at the University of Houston, left early several days but claimed on his timesheet that he had worked a full shift. Prosecutors said that happened 16 times between Aug. 9 and Oct. 4. He was paid $732.90 for 69.8 hours that he did not work, investigators said.

UH police said Smith was not authorized to leave early and that records of when he turned in his equipment showed the actual time that Smith left each day.
