U.S. Marine reunites with military war dog

HOUSTON – A U.S. Marine Corps corporal is thanking Mission K9 Rescue and the American Humane Association for reuniting him with his military war dog.

It had been two years since Cpl. Joaquin Aranda had seen Donna, a yellow Labrador with whom he served in Afghanistan.

Aranda, a native of Cleveland, Texas, was reunited Saturday evening with Donna at the Houston Hobby Airport. He has adopted her has said she will be retiring from her military duties, which involved detecting explosives.

"I think she will like being lazy," Aranda said. "She worked hard when she was with us, she deserves everything she gets now."

Aranda did not think he was going to see Donna again. He said he's happy to finally have her back.

Donna will stay with Aranda's parents in Cleveland until he is out of the Marine Corps in October. He is currently stationed in California.
