Police took one man into custody and arrested another after a two-car crash led to a police chase in Southwest Houston Sunday morning.
Officers said around 12:15 a.m. a white cargo van and a black SUV were driving southbound on Fondren Road at Jackwood Street, when the two vehicles collided.
The van slid into the median, slammed into a tree, and tipped over on its side. The impact caused the SUV to roll over several times before crashing into a different tree.
Officers took the driver of the SUV into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence. Medical responders brought a woman, who was a passenger in the SUV, to the hospital in stable condition after the accident.
The man driving the cargo van tried to escape the scene and started to run away. Houston officers in the area chased that man through a neighborhood, before police eventually caught up with him. Police arrested the man and said he was also intoxicated.
