HOUSTON – A Reagan High School student sat on a curb at the corner of 11th Street and Beverly in The Heights, about a half mile from the school. Investigators said the student had walked there and was waiting for a parent to come pick him up when a white car pulled up, the passenger got out with a gun and robbed the student of his cell phone, then sped off.
Surveillance cameras recorded the entire the incident.
The entire incident from start to finish took ten seconds. Just a few minutes before that robbery another student was also robbed.
The 15-year-old Reagan High School sophomore was walking home when the same car and suspects approached him.
"He just told me, 'give me all your stuff,' and I said. 'Okay. Please don't shoot,'" said the 15-year-old victim whose identity we're not revealing because the suspects haven't been caught. "He told me not to look at the car and keep walking."
The victim's mom told Local 2 she wants other parents to know this happened. The crimes occurred in broad daylight and she thinks the robbers are bold.
"It was between 4:00 and 4:20 in the afternoon," she said. "There's a lot of businesses around and a lot of people in the area."
Harris County Precinct 1 deputy constables are investigating and trying to locate the two suspects. They appear to be driving a white, four door Chevrolet. Possibly an Impala or Malibu.
Reagan High School administrators called and alerted parents Thursday. They want to remind students to walk in groups and to avoid distractions, like talking on a cell phone, so they can be more aware of their surroundings.
"This is devastating," said the victim's mom. "No parent should have to go through that, to listen to their child saying those things. It's just devastating."
